IPLAY Empowers Youth through Internet Access

The EU-funded initiative known as the "IPLAY: Internet Access for Participation, Learning and Active Youth" project, operating under the Programme "Europe for Citizens" Strand 2 – Measure 2.2 "Networks of Towns," has been making significant strides in bridging digital divides and fostering youth participation.


Over the course of the project, six events were conducted, engaging citizens from various cities across Europe. These events served as crucial platforms for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and empowerment.





Event Highlights:

  1. Castrignano del Capo, Italy (26/04/2022 - 29/04/2022):

    • The event saw 53 citizens from multiple European cities come together to strengthen partnerships, understand project management intricacies, and enhance visibility for IPLAY and the Europe for Citizens program.


  1. Athens, Greece (23/01/2023 - 25/01/2023):

    • Ninety citizens convened to explore the workings of essential EU institutions, gaining insights through expert presentations and study visits. The event emphasized Digital Solidarity and discussions on Smart Cities.


  1. Musninku, Lithuania (23/02/2023 - 25/02/2023):

    • Participants, numbering 87, delved into the realm of Distance Learning and Work, sharing experiences and learning about EU policies and programs. The Erasmus+ National Agency of Lithuania provided expert insights.


  1. Angra, Portugal (20/03/2023 - 23/03/2023):

    • Sixty citizens focused on exchanging best practices in digital communication, particularly on social networks. The event also addressed initiatives against cyberbullying and disinformation.


  1. Brussels, Belgium (26/04/2023 - 28/04/2023):

    • A gathering of 103 citizens discussed E-Citizenship, EU policies, and programs related to E-Participation, E-Democracy, and E-Citizenship. A study visit to the EU Quartier in Brussels was a notable highlight.


  1. Tirane, Albania (15/05/2023 - 17/05/2023):

    • The event marked the official presentation of project results, culminating in Final Recommendations for the future of Internet Access in Europe. Partners evaluated the project's impact and strategized for future collaborations.


The IPLAY project stands as a testament to the positive impact that targeted internet access and engagement can have on youth empowerment and participation. Through these events, citizens from various cities came together, forging connections and shaping the future of digital inclusivity in Europe.
